There are 5 Elements to your Compulsory Basic Training:
- Element A: Introduction : At the end of this element:
- you should understand the aims of CBT
- you should make suitable decisions about the equipment and clothing they use
- the trainer should be confident that the learner meets eyesight rules
- Element B: Practical On-Site Training : after which the you should:
- be able to show an understanding of how the machine works
- understand what maintenance checks are needed to keep your machine legal and roadworthy
- have a feel for the weight and balance of the machine
- Element C: Practical On-Site Riding : which is where you learn to ride on our dedicated off-road area, including various exercises:
- Riding in a straight line and stopping
- Riding slowly
- U-turn
- Riding a figure of eight
- Using the brakes
- Changing gear
- Emergency Stop
- Rear Observations
- Turning left and right
- Element D: Practical On-Road Training : a classroom session aimed at ensuring you have all the information needed to ride safely and legally on the road.
- Element E: Practical On-Road Riding : a minimum of 2 hours out on the road in radio contact with your instructor putting everything into practice.
